Swedish gospel choir based in Gothenburg, formed in autumn 1968 by students from Nässjö. In Nässjö were on Brinellskolan a Christian high school club, torch, and a chorus of the same name.

The choir ‘Torch’ was run in 1966 and made contact with an American gospel choir from The First Church of Deliverance in Chicago during its visit to Sweden. Torch run were both notes and records of the choir, and above all inspirational. When the leaders of the torch run came as students to Gothenburg they formed Gospel Choir Chorale. The name Chorale was one of several nominations from choir members and that they jointly agreed. The choir’s first conductor, Jan-Olof Johansson. Lars Mörlid was the first soloist and Lennart Sjöholm first pianist. 1969, Lars Brandström choir’s conductor, and remained there as long as the choir was. Chorale was one of Sweden’s first and largest gospel choirs, made a dozen albums and toured Europe and the U.S., especially with the musical ‘Befriad’ (Freed).
