Best known pseudonym of musician and movie director Quentin Dupieux, Mr. Oizo became famous after his instrumental track “Flat Beat” (1999) was used in two different commercials for the Levi's jeans brand, which also featured the puppet Flat Eric, created by Dupieux.

The term “Oizo” is a homophonic intentional misspelling of the word “oiseau” (pronounced wa-zo), meaning “bird” in the French language.
