Suede

About Suede

English alternative rock band from London formed in 1989, disbanded 2003. Initially based around the partnership of vocalist / lyricist Brett Anderson and guitarist / composer Bernard Butler, Suede made two albums prior to Butler’s acrimonious departure and his replacement by guitarist Richard Oakes and keyboard / guitarist Neil Codling. A further three studio albums (and a highly-regarded B-sides collection) followed before their disbandment in 2003.

The second incarnation of the band reunited in 2010 for a series of concerts. These were successful enough to convince the band to reunite permanently, leading to five further studio albums and multiple compilations and live albums.

Due to legal action instigated by US-based jazz vocalist Suede (8), the band is known as “The London Suede” in the USA.
