English rock and blues guitarist and songwriter, born 18 December 1943, Dartford, Kent, England, best known as a founder member and guitarist of [a=The Rolling Stones].
After the Rolling Stones signed to [l=Decca] Records in 1963, their band manager, [a=Andrew Loog Oldham], dropped the ‘s’ from Richards’ surname, believing that “Keith Richard”, in his words, “[i]looked more pop[/i]”. During the late 1970s, Richards re-established the ‘s’ in his surname. A number of instances of this spelling are also the result of mis-types.
In a long-term relationship (1967-1979) with [a=Anita Pallenberg], mother of his first three children, [a=Marlon Richards] (b. 10.08.1969), Dandelion Angela Richards (b. 17.04.1972), & Tara Jo Jo Gunne Richards (b. 26.03.1976).
