American jazz trumpeter, cornetist, singer and bandleader, nicknamed “Satchmo” or “Pops”. Along with [a=Fletcher Henderson] he was the instigator of the second wave of jazz, Swing.
Inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1990 (Early Influence).
